The Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act is a landmark federal law signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 18, 2025. It creates the first U.S. regulatory framework for payment stablecoins, setting clear rules for issuers, reserve backing, and consumer protection. The U.S. Department of the Treasury and federal banking regulators are actively rolling out joint and individual rulemakings to implement key provisions of the GENIUS Act.
